However I'm not looking for a custom online now icon. I'm looking to place an online now image in one of these sections as a banner so that it appears just below my lovemyflash.com layout. To do this i think i need the code that is placed in a custom online now image and the code for the location where a custom comment box would usually be placed. (below the Friend Space or Immediately above it as shown in the picture below)

whateverlife.com does NOT even have working code for the custom online now icon, using the default size and location. I highly doubt they can help you with one using a different size and location.
(but if you don't mind a lot of pop up advertisements, it is an ok site for pre-made layouts).
As for your question
It is possible, but has complications.
Your image is large and animated.
It is over 550px wide, yet you want to place it in a location where the column width is only about 440px wide.
You only want it to show when you are online.
What do you want in the same space when you are NOT online?
Blank space?
(No I can not make the space close up when you are not online.)
